The estate

The estate

Our land is here, in the heart of Sannio: 15 hectares in a single block, in the municipality of Morcone, locality Pagliarelle, within the Alto Tammaro Mountain Community. We sit between 500 and 600 metres above sea level, in an unspoilt corner of the southern Apennines, where the air is clear and the hills change colour with the seasons. This is where, for generations, we have tended our olive trees.

It all began in 1929, when Gabriele Senior founded the estate: back then it was a cereal and livestock farm, with a little olive and vine. In 1999 Giacomo, the second generation, chose to devote himself truly to oil. In 2004, with 4.15 hectares of grove, we converted to organic farming — a choice of respect for the land and for those we bring to the table, for a wholesome product with no shortcuts. In the years that followed we kept planting new olive trees.

In 2014 the baton passed to the siblings Gabriele Junior and Angela, the third generation: barely in their twenties, full of enthusiasm and drive. In January 2016 we planted the last 2.50 hectares, completing the dream of growing olives across all our land.

Since 2019 the estate has been back in Giacomo's hands, carrying this family story forward with the same care as always.

Fifteen hectares of Sannio, hand-tended by three generations.

The olive groves

When we bought the estate in 1929, there were already about 60 olive trees. Through the 1930s and '40s Gabriele Senior planted more, reaching 120: back then the oil was made only for the family, for our own table.

With the turning point of 1999 we began planting in earnest: first 3 hectares of Monicella — a variety that comes from the Roveto Valley, in the province of L'Aquila — and in 2000 about 1.15 hectares of Leccino. In 2004 we converted the 4.15 hectares of that time to organic farming. In 2005 came the first 5 hectares of Ortice, the variety typical of the Sannio area near Benevento and the queen of our groves, followed by a further 2.3 hectares in 2008. In January 2016, with 2.5 hectares of Ortice, we completed the conversion of all our land to olives.

Since 2015 we have bottled and labelled with our own hands: three single-variety oils — ORTICE, LECCINO and MONICELLA — and a blend. Every bottle holds the work of the whole family.

Frequently asked questions about extra virgin olive oil

What is the difference between olive oil and extra virgin olive oil?+

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is the highest grade: obtained only by cold mechanical extraction, with free acidity below 0.8% and flawless sensory parameters. All our oils are organic, single-variety extra virgin.

What does organic olive oil mean?+

It means the entire chain — from grove cultivation to bottling — follows organic farming methods, with no synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. Our production is Bioagricert certified.

Can I buy olive oil online and have it delivered?+

Yes: you can buy our organic extra virgin olive oil directly online. We ship across Italy, Europe and the rest of the world, with free shipping above a certain order value.

Which extra virgin olive oil is best for raw use?+

For salads, bruschetta and raw dishes we recommend the Ortice, with its intense, elegant fruitiness, and the Giolivo, more versatile and delicate. All our oils are single-variety and traceable.

How should I store extra virgin olive oil?+

Keep EVOO away from light, heat and air, in a cool, dry place. Best consumed within 18 months of bottling to enjoy its aroma and properties at their best.
