A bottle of olive oil makes a useful gift when you have some idea of how the recipient cooks. Our four oils differ in olive varieties and flavour; the product pages show which sizes can actually be ordered.
Start with the food they cook
Giolivo, made from Leccino olives, has a gentle fruitiness and relatively mild bitterness and pepperiness. It is a sensible choice for someone who often cooks fish, vegetables or lighter dishes. Ortice is more assertive, with green notes and a firmer bitter and peppery finish; it suits someone who likes to taste olive oil on bread or legumes.
Monicè is made from Monicella olives, while Moleo brings several cultivars together. If you are unsure, compare the tasting notes on the individual product pages rather than assuming that one oil will suit everyone. Flavour can also vary between harvests.
Choose a size they will use
A smaller bottle is a good way to introduce an unfamiliar oil. A larger format makes more sense if it will be used regularly after opening. Check the available sizes and stock on the product page before making your choice; not every oil is available in every format at all times.
Plan the delivery before paying
You can enter the recipient's address as the shipping address. Delivery costs and estimates depend on the destination and are shown before payment. If the gift needs to arrive for a particular day, allow time beyond the estimate rather than counting on a guaranteed date.
Gift wrapping and a message card should not be assumed to be included. If either matters to you, contact us before placing the order to ask what can be arranged. The checkout does not currently offer a gift-message option.
