Our loyal customers
Every year I buy my favourite: the Ortice. For me it has a superlative taste and flavour in raw dishes. I can't replace it with any other oil! Well done!
One of the best oils I tasted at the Viva l'Oliva fair in Pescara! I re-ordered it on the website after trying it there for the first time. The Ortice is particularly intense and structured, but to my taste the Giolivo remains more versatile and adaptable to any dish, with a more delicate flavour.
Questions about Ortice olive oil
Which olives do we use for Ortice?+
Ortice is an organic, single-variety extra virgin olive oil made only from Ortice olives, a cultivar typical of the Sannio area around Benevento. The name identifies both the olive variety and this oil in our range.
What does Ortice taste like?+
Our Ortice has intense green fruitiness, with notes of tomato, almond and artichoke. Bitterness and pungency accompany a wild-herb finish. The profile can vary between harvests: it describes the oil's character, not a laboratory measurement of a particular batch.
Which dishes work well with Ortice as a finishing oil?+
Try it on pulse and grain soups, grilled red meat and strongly flavoured dishes. Start by tasting it on plain bread, then add a little at a time to your dish so you can find the amount that complements the other ingredients.
How does Ortice differ from the Moleo blend?+
Ortice expresses one cultivar and suits those looking for an intense profile. Moleo combines Monicella, Leccino, Ortice and Frantoio, with medium green fruitiness, bitterness and pungency. The difference is in composition and flavour: both are organic extra virgin olive oils from Sannio.
